Healthmate Purifier: Breathe Easier

Fifteen years ago a friend of mine purchased an air purifier and I thought it was a complete waste of money. We had opened the device and inside it were layers of cloth filters that did not look like it could deliver the virus free air it promised. Let us start with the first component; Carbon is a very effective type of filter. In fact most air purifiers only have a pre-filter and a carbon one. It can successfully remove contaminants as small as 0.5 to 50 micrometers as well as unstable organic compounds depending on the surface area of the carbon media. The makers of the Healthmate air purifier however wanted to ensure better air quality so they also integrated zeolite filters. These are effective for removing minerals, salts, metals and other chemicals in the air, which effectively eliminates odors. Lastly, the Healthmate air purifier has a High Efficiency Particulate Arrestant filter which catches contaminants present in air up to 0.03 microns in size. It may not be perfect but it sure comes close.
