The Different Types Of Filterless Air Purifiers
64As the name suggests, Filterless air purifiers are air cleaners/purifiers that do not use a filter in its cleaning mechanism. The devices work effectively against air pollution and clean the air within your residence. Dirt particles, bacteria, pollen, allergens, odors, chemical traces, smoke particles, gaseous pollutants, and volatile organic compounds are eliminated through these devices and they tend to improve the air quality. They are home air filters, which work effectively without using a filter!
Filterless air purifiers are said to be as effective as the air purifiers with filters. The benefits of having a filterless air purifier is that, firstly, you do not have to spend much on buying replacement filters and are spared from filter costs. Secondly, in case you cannot find them in the local market, you are saved from searching for the hassle of searching for them. Usually, the needed filters may be phased out of the market, and so this situation is avoided as well. And also, filterless air purifiers need less maintenance in terms of your time and effort. Since fans may or may not be installed in these, they do not make loud noises as well.
A filter air purifier captures air in its mechanism, and the air is then ionized in a wire-plate section of the cleaner. Then, the charged particles of contaminants are attracted by static electricity and trapped in a plate-to-plate collection system. Usually, fans are not installed in these devices, but if they are, then they become essential parts of these mechanisms as they enhance the actions within the mechanism.
There are five major types of filterless air purifiers. These are:
- Ionic filterless air purifier: In this device, ions are emitted into the room. The ionized particles come together in clumps.
- Electrostatic filterless air purifier: This is the most common type. In this unit, static electricity and opposite charges are used to trap impurities.
- Photo-catalytic filterless air purifier: This uses oxidants to eliminate odor particles and other atmospheric containments.
- Ozone generator filterless air purifier: The ionizers in the air emit both positives and negative cjarged ozone ions within an acceptable level for humans.
- Plasma-cluster Ions filterless air purifiers: Negative and positive charges are emitted, which destroy impurities, by floating particles on water molecules.
When purchasing a filterless air purifier, your main option should be an electronic or electrostatic air purifier. For this or any other air purifier, maintenance is required as unclean filterless units cannot do the job it is intended to do when particles are trapped on it.
